Good Housekeeping puts hand blenders to the test

"An immersion blender is really a great kitchen time saver. It lets you puree soup right in the pot without having to transfer it to a regular blender, plus it leaves you with fewer dishes to clean," said Paul Hope of Good Housekeeping.

The Cuisinart Smartstick can puree soup in under 90 seconds, makes a great smoothie and whips cream. The Hamilton Beach hand blender comes with both a carrying case and whisk attachment and retails for just $28.

"Our third choice is the Delonghi hand blender. It has a long neck that lets you puree in a deep pot of soup and it comes with a pan blender for mixing gravy right in the roasting pan," said Hope.

Handblenders are perfect to make a quick soup or fruit smoothie.
