The work was supposed to begin Thursday morning. Instead, it's being pushed back to next week.
A computer rendering shows how the four sections of the tower will be lifted 30 stories into the air and then lowered and bolted into place.
The pieces are 107-feet tall. Each piece weighs just over a million pounds.
Caltrans is warning drivers not to be distracted by the work.
