San Mateo Co. begins to process absentee ballots

The election is less than two weeks away and the San Mateo County elections office has officially started to process some 40,000 absentee ballots.

The registrar is only processing vote-by-mail ballots right now. The law allows the registrar to begin this process seven business days before an election.

Votes cannot be counted or reported until 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Voters still have until next Tuesday to request a vote-by-mail ballot.
