Richmond is close to a deal with Japanese automaker Subaru that could bring dozens of jobs to the town. Subaru wants to use the port of Richmond as a drop-off point for up to 35,000 vehicles shipped from Asia.

A proposed five-year contract would create at least 40 full-time jobs and bring in millions in revenue, but first the port would have to make up to $750,000 in improvements. A review of the project is underway.
