Man arrested for allegedly hitting a man with a hammer

SAN JOSE, Calif.

The chain of events leading to the road rage attack began when William Mosson allegedly cut off the victim, Officer Jose Garcia said. The victim, who was identified only as a male adult, made some kind of motion that provoked Mosson to challenge him to pull over.

Garcia said when the victim refused, Mosson followed him until they both stopped at an intersection at Santa Teresa Boulevard and Chesbro Avenue.

There, Mosson got out of his car and allegedly assaulted the victim, Garcia said. The victim tried to fight back in defense, but then Mosson allegedly took out a hammer and started hitting the victim with it, striking him several times all over his body and head, Garcia said.

The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries that police said are not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers responded around 1:45 p.m. and arrested Mosson, who is a resident of San Jose.
