A soldier with ties to the Bay Area was buried Saturday.

Twenty-seven-year-old Staff Sgt. Eric S. Trueblood was killed in Kandahar province, Afghanistan on March 10. The military says his unit was attacked with a bomb.

Trueblood grew up in Alameda, but was born in Gillette, Wyoming. He enlisted in the army in 2003.

The Laramie Boomerang reports nearly 50 people met a plane carrying Trueblood's body when it arrived Thursday at Laramie Regional Airport.
