2 men rescued from grounded fishing vessel

BODEGA BAY, Calif.

The 45-foot commercial fishing vessel grounded in the harbor at about 11:25 p.m. Thursday.

A member of the Coast Guard heard a loud crash from the station as the vessel collided with a channel marker in the harbor, and a lifeboat crew immediately responded to the area.

The Coast Guard crew tried to tow the vessel but were unsuccessful, so the two fishermen on board were loaded onto the lifeboat and taken to shore. They were not injured in the incident, according to the Coast Guard.

There are no signs of pollution leaking from the boat, but a pollution response team was sent to the area as a precaution, and a notice has been broadcast to other mariners warning them of the grounded boat.

The cause of the grounding is under investigation, according to the Coast Guard.
