Missing dog Frosty found, recovering from surgery

MONTEREY, Calif.

The 1-year-old cream-colored poodle-terrier mix was in the care of a foster family in Seaside on Dec. 1 when the dog escaped from the home.

According to the SPCA, the foster family is not suspected of any wrongdoing.

Last week, people had reported that Frosty had been thrown from a vehicle near the Lighthouse Tunnel in Monterey.

Frosty was then spotted, bleeding from the mouth, on the Coast Guard Pier.

According to the SPCA, a resident on Manor Road found Frosty today and brought the dog into her house after determining the pooch did not belong to her gardener. The woman contacted the SPCA, and Frosty returned to SPCA custody.

SPCA officials said Frosty is undergoing emergency surgery for a major eye injury and is thin and dehydrated and has grease marks on his back.

Anyone who witnessed trauma Frosty may have injured near the Lighthouse Tunnel is asked to contact the SPCA for Monterey County, which is investigating those reports, at (831) 373-2631.
