Three injured in overnight Oakland shooting

OAKLAND, Calif.

The shooting occurred around 11:20 p.m. Friday. Police tell the Oakland Tribune a group of young people had just left a nightclub for teens and were standing near a newsstand when the 17-year-old suspect ran at them and fired a handgun.

The three shooting victims -- males of unknown ages -- were wounded, but are expected to survive. They were in stable condition at a hospital on Saturday morning.

The suspect was taken into custody about six blocks from the scene and booked into Alameda County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted murder. Police have not released his name because he is a minor.

A motive for the shooting was not immediately clear. Police say the suspect has refused to speak with investigators.
