Once the calendar turns over, there are a few words that many apparently hope we won't be bringing with us into the New Year. Michigan's Lake Superior State University has released its annual list of words banished from the Queen's English for misuse, overuse and general uselessness.

Among the highlights on this year's dozen word list: 'occupy,' 'amazing,' 'man cave,' 'the new normal,' 'baby bump' and 'win the future.'

The list started as a publicity ploy on New Year's Day 1976 and now generates thousands of nominations every year.
