CA superintendent wants Korematsu Day observation

The civil rights advocate died in 2005 at the age of 86. Korematsu was arrested after refusing to go to a U.S. internment camp along with thousands of other Japanese-Americans during World War II. The Oakland native filed a lawsuit and the Supreme Court eventually overturned his conviction decades later. President Clinton awarded him the presidential Medal of Freedom in 1998.
