Firefighters arrived to a home at 125 Alexander Ave. around 11:35 a.m. Thursday and found a smoking garage, part of a two-story home, according to fire officials.
Firefighters used hose lines to extinguish the garage fire, which had spread to the walls and roof area, fire officials said.
Four adults were home when the fire broke out and all were able to escape. One resident suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. The residents were displaced and are receiving housing assistance from the American Red Cross.
Five dogs and a cat were also displaced in the fire.
The fire was controlled quickly and overhaul was completed at the home after three hours. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, fire officials said.
North County fire crews remind residents to install and maintain smoke detectors in their homes.
