It happened early Saturday at a home in the 6400-block of South Artesian.
Police say the girl was struck in the ankle. She was taken to Comer Children's Hospital for treatment.
Police said Sunday that 21-year old Jarquise Upton was charged with several counts, including unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
