Many florists advertising on the Internet or phone book list a local number despite being from out of the area. Consumers are then charged a fee because the order must then be rerouted to a local florist.
The bill, by Assm. Bob Wieckowski, D-Fremont, would help consumers avoid the fee. It would require florists to list their true geographic location in all advertising.
The bill moves on to the state Senate.
