Comcast to start charging for using too much data

The nation's largest Internet provider is going to start charging extra fees for going online too much. Comcast will add fees if customers go over a monthly limit for data use.

However, the limit is pretty high -- 300 gigabytes per month. That would deliver 1,000 hours of movies.

Comcast says only a fraction of customers use that much data. Comcast says the new fee may be $10 for every 50 gigabytes over the limit.

Time Warner and AT&T tried limiting data use for home Internet service, but they dropped the plans because of fierce opposition from customers.
