Students in Tiburon help kids in Liberia

TIBURON, Calif

Fifth graders from Bel Aire Elementary set out on a four-mile walk Wednesday morning. They're recreating the trek students at a school in Monrovia, Liberia must make each day to get drinking water. They're also raising money so the Liberian school can dig a well.

"It allows them to stay in school. The well is being built right on the school grounds so that they no longer have to walk to get water. Now their time can be spent in school studying," said Abby O'Leary, a 5th grade teacher from Bel Aire.

This is not the first time Bel Aire Elementary has helped people in Africa. A few years ago, they raised funds and sent a solar cooker to a Liberian hospital.
