Police search for men who robbed street vendor

WATSONVILLE

Police say they arrived at the area of Davis and Carey avenues at 7:24 p.m. to find a 21-year-old street vendor who had been robbed and injured.

According to the victim, two suspects in their early 20s snuck up on him from behind. One was brandishing a switchblade while the other had a gun, police said.

The suspects demanded money from the victim, which he gave them in an effort to avoid being harmed. The only injury the vendor received was a small cut on his nose, police said.

After taking the money, the suspects fled south on nearby Freedom Boulevard, according to police.

Police described one suspect as a Hispanic man around 23 or 24 years old who is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He was seen wearing a blue and white checkered shirt at the time of the attack. The other suspect was only described as 20 or 21 years old, police said.

Police have not yet arrested anyone in connection with the incident.
