Congresswoman Lofgren visits Sierra Search Center

MORGAN HILL, Calif.

Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren talked to the parents of the girl who has been missing since the middle of March. Lofgren did not join in the search, but her presence attracted media which in turn reminds people Sierra LaMar is still missing. "It's a remarkable thing that six months out, people are still coming twice a week to try and find her but also in doing so, by giving support to this family," Lofgren said.

Sierra's parents used Lofgren's visit to push for legislation that would require schools to notify parents immediately if a child does not make it to first period. When Sierra disappeared around 7 a.m., her parents did not find out she had not made it to school until that evening.

Lofgren is a federal legislator, but promised to lobby California lawmakers on behalf of effort.
