Neighbors and friends of a Texas soldier who died while fighting in Iraq are turning his sacrifice into an all-out mission to help people in need.

The "Footwashers Project" was put together by some of Lieutenant Peter Burks' closest friends in his hometown of Garland, Texas. Burks died in 2007 while serving overseas.

Later this month, more than 400 volunteers will paint, fix, and clean dozens of homes in his neighborhood, all in his memory, "Pete to me was always a guy who was willing to go out and help you, willing to pick up the phone 'I'm here' and that's what this event is about," Lt. Burk's friend Adam Kanneman said.

Volunteers for the project chose people who were most in need of help, including one neighbor with multiple sclerosis.
