The 19-year-old remains in custody, with bail set at $40,000. On Thursday, through his attorney, the teen pleaded not guilty.
Nicholas Hudson showed little emotion and did not speak during his court appearance. He faces two felony charges -- vandalism and tampering with a transportation vehicle.
Police say during the Giants World Series post-game celebrations several vandals smashed, trashed and set a Muni bus on fire at Market and 3rd. On Thursday the assistant district attorney called the conduct disgusting and unconscionable. She said Hudson, who is from Daly City, is a known member of the Norteno gang and that he's on a probation hold in San Mateo County.
Hudson's attorney says she just got the case and could not comment.
According to police, through social media the public helped track Hudson down, as well as another man who was also arrested -- 22-year-old Gregory Graniss of San Francisco.
There are others still wanted for questioning, including a man using his skateboard to smash the bus windows and a man in a striped jacket using a barricade to crack the windshield, "They're all very serious crimes," said SFPD Officer Carlos Manfredi. "And as you heard from our district attorney and our city attorney, they're going to prosecute to the fullest."
In the mob scene that night on Valencia Street, one woman was severely burned when she fell into a bonfire. And we are just learning of the death of a reveler on Haight Street, "The roommate stated to us that the victim was assaulted, so were looking into that," said SFPD Officer Gordon Shyy. "However we also have information that the victim may have fell during the celebration and suffered serious injuries due to that fall."
Police call 37-year-old Sean Moffitt's death suspicious. In an email his grandfather said "He was very much into sports and the fact that his hometown had just won the Series was a big thing to Sean."
The investigation continues in that case and others. In all the district attorney has charged 13 cases ranging from assault on a police officer to robbery.
