Two years ago when IBM's Watson computer competed on "Jeopardy," it was clear that computer analytics was entering a new era, with machines able to think more like humans.
The newest offshoot for that research is food. IBM is developing a computer that does taste analytics and generates recipes. Much like a chef, the computer tries to be inventive and creative.
IBM has been working on the project for only about a year and not even full time, but it has tremendous potential.
IBM projects advanced analytics will be a $20 billion business in two years and will encompass a wide range of applications.
