Strobridge Elementary School is holding a toy gun exchange on Saturday.
If kids turn in their play weapons, they'll get a book and a chance to win a bicycle.
Police will also be there to teach about gun safety.
The principal says toy guns desensitize kids to the danger of real ones.
Advocates, however, say the threat is overblown and that playing cops and robbers is a normal part of growing up.
