The shooter was annoying other customers and using profanity and derogatory language inside the club, located at 404 Mendocino Ave., Sgt. David Linscomb said.
A 23-year-old male employee of the bar asked the man to leave and accompanied him outside at about 1:15 a.m. On the sidewalk in front of the nightclub, the man pulled out a gun, shot the employee in the torso and fled, Linscomb said.
The victim, a Santa Rosa resident, taken to a hospital for surgery, Linscomb said.
The suspect is described only as a Hispanic man in his 20s with long hair.
