An event honoring female veterans added a special remembrance on Saturday for those killed at the Washington Navy Yard.

Four female veterans received the "Quilts of Valor" at the USS Hornet in Alameda.

The patriotic quilts were made in Pleasanton and are in recognition of service in the armed forces.

The ceremony also took a moment to remember those who were killed in Washington DC last week.

On Monday, 12 people and the gunman, who was a military contractor, were killed.
