PHOENIX, AZ -- A convenience store manager was violently beaten during a robbery in Phoenix, but that beating may have actually saved his life.

Jeremiah Willey, a husband and father of three ended up in the hospital with serious injuries after robbers beat him and another co-worker while on the job. But it turned out to be a blessing in disguise when doctors found a deadly tumor in his head.

"They said had this not been found soon, around the time that it was found, he would have gone to sleep one night and not been able to wake up," said Alisha Willey, the victim's wife.

Doctors say Willey's tumor would have surely killed him, but right now, he is recovering now from his third surgery to remove the cancer.
