Storm causing flooding on Bay Area freeways, major flight delays at SFO
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The Bay Area woke up to heavy rain and strong, gusty winds. The storm produced up to an inch of rain in the Bay Area and nearly two feet of snow in parts of the Sierra.
The rain is caused traffic delays due to flooding on Bay Area freeways. The rain is still causing up to an hour delay on flights out of SFO.

Wind gusts in the Bay Area will range from 25 to 45 miles-per-hour. Also, a High Surf Warning will be in effect from 4:00 p.m. Thursday to 4:00 p.m. Friday.

PG&E has put extra crews and resources out to deal with storm related issues.
Crews at PG&E's Fremont Materials Distribution Center were on alert as equipment, including transformers, were waiting for the call to action.
Meanwhile, Christmas season and the rain can be a big boost to some businesses. Curbside is an app that lets you order your groceries and other items from stores and you get to pick them up curbside.
PG&E said if there's one piece of advice they can get out to the public is that if you see a downed power line, assume it is live and call 911.
If the storm has you dreaming of fresh powder at Tahoe, give yourself plenty of time to get there. It doesn't take more than a few inches of snow to trigger big delays on the freeways getting into Tahoe and this storm is expected to bring more than that. Plus, there's another storm expected to hit on Sunday. The CHP recommends you bring warm clothing and food to wait out the delays, chains and don't forget a charger for your phone.

San Francisco: 10 free sand bags are available to each household until 2 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each week Monday through Saturday at 2323 Cesar Chavez St., Gordon said. She said residents should enter at the Marin and Kansas Street gate.
