Caltrain hit car on tracks
A commuter train struck an unoccupied vehicle just before it was going to pull into the Sunnyvale Caltrain station Monday evening.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- A commuter train struck an unoccupied vehicle just before it was going to pull into the Sunnyvale Caltrain station this evening, Caltrain officials said.



The southbound train hit the unoccupied vehicle at the Mary Avenue crossing just before 5:30 p.m., according to Caltrain.





The 355 passengers on board the train were not injured. Transit police are investigating what caused the crash.



As of about 5:40 p.m., trains were stopped in both directions in the area.
