Ring in the new year by viewing comet 45P
Comet P45 will be visible on New Year's Eve.

As the end of 2016 is celebrated around the world, fireworks won't be the only thing lighting up the night sky.

On New Year's Eve, comet Honda-Mrkos-Pajduáková, known as 45P, will be visible near the crescent moon, according to AccuWeather.

Comet 45P is a short period comet, orbiting the sun every 5.25 years.

AccuWeather says the comet has a "bluish-green head and a fan shaped tail" and will be best seen with a pair of binoculars.

For anybody that misses the comet on New Year's Eve, comet 45P will pass by again on Feb. 11 at its maximum brightness, according to AccuWeather.
