California primary: Early voting begins across the Bay Area

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Early voting begins on Monday across the Bay Area. Our late-in-the-game primary may not be a game changer this year, but political analysts say it still acts as an important test.

We're 29 days away from Election Day and you have a few options to turn in your vote before June 7 - that includes mailing it, coming to the Registrar of Voters Office and going inside to cast your vote, or you fill out your ballot at home and drop it off at dozens of locations across Santa Clara County.

Main-in ballots will start going out Monday. The Mercury News reports some voting experts are expecting a big turnout, despite predictions of political analysts that people will stay away because they feel the race for the Democratic and Republican nominees are already over.

California's Secretary of State told the Mercury News last month that there could be a major surge in voter turnout based on elections in other states and the surprisingly high online voter registration numbers by people 25 and older.

Voter registration numbers are way up compared to 2014.

In Santa Clara County, you can drop off your ballot at 50 different places, including city halls, colleges, libraries, light rail stations and even Westgate Mall in San Jose.
