This morning the funeral procession drove past his home in Miraloma Park before arriving at City Hall. "The casket got here 5 minutes ahead of schedule, that's so typical of the mayor who was known to arrive either early or on time to events," said one staff member.

One of the first to stand in line was the former mayor and Assembly Speaker, Willie Brown. "He was unusual, he had the ability to listen, most politicians do not listen," expressed Brown.

Many in the Chinese-American community came to pay their respects, bowing three times. It is believed that the number three is lucky because it is an odd number.

House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi wrote a personal note in the Memorial Book that was left for all to sign. "It's heartbreaking. It's hard to think about him leaving us without thinking of his beautiful smile," said Pelosi as she fought back tears.

Lee became mayor in 2011 after Mayor Gavin Newsom resigned to become lieutenant governor. He was re-elected twice before his unexpected death.

People will be allowed into City Hall for a viewing until 7 o'clock this evening. A memorial service is planned for Sunday at 3 p.m. at City Hall. ABC7 will broadcast the event live.
