SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) -- Football season is here and it's not just a game for fathers and their sons these days. At Levi's Stadium Monday night, we saw the new face of football.
The event was more than just a bonding opportunity between dads and daughters. It was an opportunity to inspire girls to play all types of sports.
World Cup champion Brandi Chastain was there and said what is happening at these types of events is so much bigger than football. She said, "Today's event is just a microcosm of what dads being involved in sports with their daughters means, which is life lessons, challenge yourself, have a voice."
Through sports, girls tend to have higher self-esteem, a better body image, they're challenged to speak up for themselves and learn how to work with a team. The dads agreed those are all valuable lessons for their daughters to learn.
