PINOLE, Calif. (KGO) -- A toddler, man and a woman were wounded in a shooting on I-80 in Pinole Monday night. The young boy has minor injuries from shattered glass that sprayed on him. The CHP says the male and female showed up at a hospital with injuries. Police say this incident appears the latest in a string of gang-related shootings on the freeway.

The latest shooting happened Monday night around 7:45. The CHP says a bullet passed through a car that a family of five, with three children under the age of 10, were driving in on eastbound I-80 near the Fitzgerald Drive. The CHP says the family were innocent bystanders and the gunmen were trying to shoot at a car occupied by a man in his 20s and a teen girl.

At least one bullet struck the family's car entering through the passenger's window. It traveled through the driver's side headrest, then out another window. CHP officers called it miraculous that nobody was hit by the bullet, but the two-year-old was cut by shattered glass. The family made it to the Richmond Parkway exit where a gas station attendant helped them.

"I saw a car pull up, a woman got out rather quickly, very, very, very upset. She screamed that someone shot her. At first I thought she meant shot her herself. Then she started screaming about her children yelling please call the cops," said Jessica Mosley, witness.

There have been at least four shootings on the same stretch of I-80 since November. On November 2, a man was shot and wounded, then on the November 11 a man and woman shot, the man died. In December a man was shot and wounded. Two of the shootings occurred near San Pablo Dam Road.

Police have not released any information on possible suspects.
