The Super Bowl itself is on Sunday, Feb. 7 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, but 9 days of activities leading up the game will be held in San Francisco. Click here for full coverage on SB50.
Here's a guide to getting around as the Bay Area hosts Super Bowl 50:
ROAD CLOSURES AND DETOURS
Rolling detours on southbound Embarcadero begin at Broadway onto Battery Street, across Market Street, into the Financial District and Bay Bridge approaches. Starting January 26, Howard Street will be closed between Third and Fourth streets for the NFL experience at Moscone Center.
The foot of Market Street is barely recognizable, but the new Super Bowl City is. There will be two concert stages and even a football field for 1 million plus fans to gear up for the biggest game of all. Millions of fans will get the ultimate experience on January 30 when it opens. Super Bowl City will be free to the public with four security checkpoints to enter.
Maps are posted throughout the Financial District to help pedestrians find their way around Super Bowl City. You're best route to the Ferry Building is a straight shot down Mission Street. San Francisco has ambassadors out in force along the water front and the Financial District to answer questions and point commuters in the right direction.
One way commuters are avoiding the gridlock is to stay off the roads all together.
TRANSIT RESOURCES
With so many Super Bowl fans heading to the Bay Area, public transportation will be the best way to get to the city. Here are some of the best resources to help you get around:
For most BART riders, the focus will be on two events near Embarcadero Station. Embarcadero Station is expected to be even more congested during the week than normal. Also, all 33 BART stations have parking, but unless you already have a monthly parking permit, parking at BART stations will be even harder to find. If it's too far to walk to a station, try transit connections, bicycling, carpooling or getting someone to drop you off.

Plan your travel to Super Bowl 50 and events. Fans are advised to take transit to the big game. Driving is not advised.
There will be temporary Muni service changes due to Superbowl 50 events. Commuters, residents and Super Bowl fans who use Muni's surface routes in the Financial District and South of Market neighborhoods may see temporary re-routes and stop re-locations for Super Bowl City from January 23 to February 12.

Larkspur Ferry will ADD midday and evening service Saturday, January 30 through Saturday, February 6, with additional midday and evening trips. Visitors and new riders to GGF and non-Clipper card holders should purchase tickets in advance to avoid long lines at the terminal.

EVENTS
Located in San Francisco's Justin Herman Plaza, Super Bowl City features free family-friendly activities for football fans of all ages. Venues will be open from 11 a.m. to about 9 or 10 p.m.
The NFL Experience, pro football's interactive theme park, is at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Interactive exhibits celebrate football history and the electrifying atmosphere of Super Bowl.
