Man accused of killing off-duty Richmond cop pleads not guilty

RICHMOND, Calif. (KGO) -- The man accused of killing an off-duty Richmond police officer inside his Vallejo home pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity on Wednesday.




Robert Vega is accused of murdering Officer Gus Vegas, a 15-year veteran of the force and the grandfather of Vega's son.

If convicted, Vega could get 50 years to life in prison.
