Suspicious device prompts evacuations near SJSU

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- San Jose police officers responded to a report of a possible burglary at a storage unit in the 1000 block of N. 4th Street.

Officers arrived on scene and discovered evidence of a possible burglary. Meanwhile, officers located a suspicious device and brought it to the attention of the SJDP Bomb Squad. It was later rendered safe.

All streets are being reopened and residence who were being evacuated are being allowed back into their homes.

This is near San Jose State University and not on campus. Traffic was been impacted but no evacuations were ordered at SJSU. Classes remained in session.

The Bomb Squad made the decision to evacuate the immediate area surrounding the N. 4th Street location as a precaution.
