SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Ellen Pao, 45, says gender issues won't go away despite her legal loss to a Silicon Valley venture capital firm.

Pao gave an interview to the Wall Street Journal. This was her first interview since the verdict last month.

A jury ruled Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers did not discriminate against Pao.

Pao said the firm denied her an earned promotion and subjected her to a boys-club atmosphere.

She now works at Reddit in San Francisco and says the trial was hard, but she's happy she made the fight.

Studies show the number of women partners in venture-capital firms has dropped significantly in recent years.
