Two pedestrians hit while trying to cross I-680 in Walnut Creek

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KGO) -- The CHP reports that two pedestrians were hit while trying to cross I-680 in Walnut Creek just before Ygnacio Valley Road following an accident Tuesday morning.

CHP officials said the pedestrians jumped over the center divide from the southbound to northbound lanes after the crash and were hit by a red car.

Officers said both were taken to a hospital with major injuries.

The driver accused of hitting them is cooperating with the investigation.
