SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KGO) -- ABC7 has partnered with Bay Area food banks the last 25-years to help feed our communities with our annual Give Where You Live Thanksgiving food drive.
ABC7s Give Where You Live Thanksgiving food drive is our way of helping all seven Bay Area food banks serve the 840,000 people in need of food each month. That number actually increased from 780,000 last year.
ABC7 News weather anchor Spencer Christian presented Redwood Empire Food Bank in Santa Rosa with a $15,000 donation from our station and parent company Disney to help feed the 82,000 people it serves each month. Twenty eight percent of that number is children.
For the last seven years, the Redwood Empire Food Bank's Farm to Family School Pantry program serves 2,000 children weekly at their schools.
"We serve breakfast items for families, and then vegetables, protein and dairy," said Allison Goodwin of Redwood Empire Food Bank. "So they're getting food every week with food to take home to their families."
