SAN JOSE (KGO) -- Twelve-year-old Joey Childs has become a toy collecting expert. He's been doing "Joey's Toy Drive" since he was 6-years-old, collecting hundreds of toys a year for the Marine Corps Reserve's "Toys for Tots" campaign in Santa Clara County.
This year, Joey is on pace to quadruple last year's collection. So far the community has donated 574 toys. It makes me feel good and it makes me feel accomplished that I can collect that many toys and that I know it will help the Marines to reach their goal and their total.

"It makes me feel good and it makes me feel accomplished that I can collect that many toys and that I know it will help the Marines to reach their goal and their total," said Joey Childs.
His dad, Joe Childs, says this year his son is getting some help from local businesses. "We have the boxes in the lobby. Some corporations are giving gift cards where he's going shopping and bringing in toys that way, so he's turning it to the next level," said Joe Childs.
