Caltrans video demonstrates need for runaway truck ramp

Caltrans has released video showing the need for runaway truck ramps on steep roadways in mountainous regions.

The video shows the driver of a white semi-truck as he's unable to stop the vehicle under its own power. It crashes into a steep slope of gravel that was constructed to isolate runaway trucks from the rest of traffic.

Caltrans says ramps like these are responsible for saving lives.
