PETALUMA, Calif. -- Two people were arrested early Monday morning in Petaluma after they led police on a vehicle pursuit and allegedly tossed a stolen gun out the window.
At about 12:25 a.m., an officer who was conducting a neighborhood check near Lauren and Renee Drives noticed a vehicle in the area that didn't have a rear license plate, according to police.
The officer activated his emergency lights and attempted to pull the vehicle over. The driver however failed to yield and continued driving east on E. Madison Drive, police said.
As the pursuit continued, the vehicle's passenger tossed an object out of the front passenger window.
After driving through two stop signs, the driver finally pulled over to the side of the road in the 500 block of S. McDowell Boulevard, according to police.
The vehicle's passenger exited and fled on foot, jumping fences into neighboring yards.
The vehicle's driver was ordered out of the car and detained. She was identified as Jameelah Garry, 21, from Oakland.
The passenger who fled was located and detained just a few blocks away. He was identified as Deonte Bradford, 24, from Oakland, police said.
After investigating, officers determined the item that was tossed out of the passenger's window during the pursuit was a gun that had been reported stolen out of Florida.
The two were arrested on suspicion of evading arrest, possessing a loaded firearm and possessing a stolen firearm. They were booked into the Sonoma County Jail, according to police.
