SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- San Jose State University has something to be proud of. The 2016 edition of U.S. News and World Report college rankings are out. San Jose State ranks eighth overall among the West Coast's top public universities offering bachelors and master's degrees.
This comes out as controversy erupts again, over former president Dr. Mo Qayoumi, who just left after four years to return to Afghanistan, to work for president Ashraf Ghani.
The California State University Board of Trustees plans to keep paying Dr. Qayoumi $261,000 over the next year, to act as advisor to the university's new president Susan Martin and other CSU executives through next August.
