MILLBRAE, Calif. -- A wrong-way driver was arrested in Millbrae early Saturday morning after crashing his car while exiting U.S. Highway 101 at a high rate of speed during a pursuit, according to the CHP.

Around 3 a.m. officers had been chasing the suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Claudio Valdovinos of San Jose, north on Highway 101 when he attempted to exit at the Millbrae Avenue off-ramp, according to the Officer Art Montiel.

Valdovinos' blue dodge charger hit the guard rail and went airborne, landing on its side near the center median and partially blocking the nearby Millbrae Avenue on-ramp, according to Montiel.

Valdovinos allegedly attempted to flee on foot, but was subdued using a Taser-style electronic control device and arrested at the scene.
