Four injured in drive-by shooting in Crockett

CROCKETT, CA

The sheriff's office received a call reporting multiple shots fired at about 2 a.m. on Ceres Street near Third Avenue in the small, unincorporated community of about 3,200 people.

When they arrived, deputies found two victims, one who had been shot in the hand and one who had suffered a grazing wound, Mariner said. Deputies found a third victim who had been shot in the leg two blocks away on Wanda Street near Third Avenue, Mariner said. A fourth victim, who had also been shot in the leg, turned up a short time later at a local hospital, Mariner said.

The shooter was described only as a white male adult driving a black vehicle. There were reportedly three passengers in the vehicle, Mariner said.

Investigators found 14 shell casings at the scene that appeared to have been fired from a semi-automatic handgun, Mariner said.

The incident is still under investigation, but Mariner said so far deputies don't have any evidence to indicate that the shooting was gang-related.
