The Coast Guard received a call from the vessel at 7:30 a.m., so it warned boaters to steer clear of the oil sheen.
The vessel is based in India and it was coming from the Tesoro Refinery in Martinez. It's now docked near Treasure Island to fix the broken engine equipment.
The Coast Guard oversaw the clean-up of the oil which stretched about 500 yards.
