The Alameda County coroner's bureau has identified Kerri Dir as the woman who died in the crash, which was reported at about 6:05 p.m. on Highway 680 just north of Andrade Road, CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said.
Witnesses said the vehicle Dir was in was going about 70 mph when it struck a tree near the right hand shoulder of the highway, according to Caggiano.
Dir was taken to Eden Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries some time after 10 p.m., Caggiano said.
