Fast screening service coming to SFO

A government-operated program that allows travelers to speed through customs is coming to San Francisco International Airport.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced that it's expanding the "global entry initiative" to 13 additional airports.

The program streamlines the arrival screening process for pre-approved members, allowing them to by-pass regular passport processing.

Officials say the average processing time is 40 seconds.

It's available to preapproved U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents.
