If you're one of the many who think texting will lead to generations of kids who can't spell -- think again.

British researchers at Coventry University found children, age eight to 12 years old, who use more text speak had strong reading and spelling skills.

Researchers say texting requires the same awareness needed to learn correct spelling and literacy.

The study was funded by the British Academy, so the next time your children are texting too much, just think of it as homework.
