Muni officials plan to outline fare increases

SAN FRANCISCO

Muni is facing a $53 million deficit for the coming fiscal year and officials say that could easily double if the proposals are not quickly approved.

The plan includes charging Fast Pass users more to ride express buses or cable cars and increasing the cost of discounted senior, youth and disabled passes to $30 a month from $15.

They are also considering decreasing the frequency of bus and rail runs on almost every route and raising the fee for residential parking permits by $20 to almost $100 for each permit.
