Santa Cruz to consider tobacco license fee

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports that the council members plan to vote on conducting a study to see how businesses would be affected by the fee. The license fee would be used to fund programs designed to reduce access to cigarettes to anyone under 18.

The council would consider a full proposal at a later date. Last week, the city of San Jose began considering a similar ordinance.
